Thomas House
Did
You Know?
Built
in 1874, this Greek Revival frame residence is built around
the entrance to a mine. This unique house represents
a typical middle class family. In fact, the house looks
virtually the same as when Ben and Marsha Thomas moved to
Denver in 1917. Ben was a local V.P. for a mercantile
company. The house remained in the family until 1987.
It was run as a private museum for three years then was purchased
in 1990 by Gilpin Historical Society.
